RoM’s Standards & Conventions for NOR and NORBIES (Sister Guild of NOR for alt characters)
This document SUPPLEMENTS the NOR Guild Standards & Conventions. All members are expected to comply with this document as well as the NOR Guild Charter and NOR Guild Standards & Conventions regardless if wearing a Guild Tag.
I. STANDARDS
A. The Guild EPI (Epithet) shall follow this format:
*NOR/KT-RoM (Artemis) or *NOR/KT-RoM
Where:
* = Cross (Star)
NOR = The Guild
/ = The Sword
KT = your rank
- = a separator
RoM = your "home/host" (i.e. the game of RoM), this should be abbreviated as shown in the example above. (Artemis) = your game server (this last part is optional and is shown in the first example above).
This format should be used when corresponding with a fellow NOR either by e-mail, or when posting on the NOR Bulletin Boards, except where the use of such would interfere with a Role Playing.
B. Naming Conventions: Name your character anything you want, as long as the name is legal per the TOS of RoM and that the name is not currently in use by a NOR member of another branch.
C. Names (NOR Jacket) - A NOR Jacket, "NOR," is not required for affiliation and identification to your NOR Brothers and Sisters within RoM. With the naming convention in use by RoM, the Guild Tag generated by the game will suffice.
Each Member shall choose one Name upon Squiring for His/Her Official NOR Roster Name aka your "Main Toon". It is preferred that the name you use is the same as your forum name but not required. This makes it easier to identify you both in game and on the message boards.
The NOR Roster Name cannot be changed without approval of the Branch Leader or Duke/Duchess. Change requests should be submitted in writing via email
D. Alt Policy - Alt characters may be tagged and if tagged they are considered associated with the Main Character and are subject to all NOR rules.
Due to the game limitations on the number of tagged guild characters, limitations may be imposed on the number of alts each player can have. Limitations will be universal to all duchy members. In the event limitations are imposed, an Alt/Recruit sister guild (NORbies) has been established on the Artemis server.
Additionally, when needed, visiting NOR can also expect a limitation on the number of tagged guild characters. Tagged characters may be your main character in NOR or one of your alts but must fall within the set number limitations. Visitors of RoM are defined as any NOR member who officially resides on the roster of another realm, regardless of rank.
Provided there is room, all additional alts for members and visiting NOR may be tagged in the Norbies guild and all will have access to the Newoutriders channel for chat.
II. Conventions
All NOR members are requested to join the "Newoutriders" private chat upon entering the game. Due to the split guild nature, it is requested that this chat be used as the primary communication channel.
Greetings – A greeting of “Hail *NOR/” should be given to your fellow NOR upon meeting up. This would include when you enter the game on guild chat and the Newoutriders Channel. When playing an alt, the member’s roster name should follow the hail, but is not required.
Chat Etiquette –
We are a family guild and have members of all ages, please keep this in mind.
Flirting can be part of the game, however if you are told that your comments are offensive, please refrain from talking in such manor.
Begging for items is unacceptable. If there is an item you need, check the guild vault, if you cannot find it there either:
Ask for help in getting it
Search for it at the AH
Note: By "begging" we mean continuous requests for items or repeated requests for the same item after no positive response is given. However, it is ok to ask, once in a while, if someone has what you are looking for. That is what we are here for.
Please remember when going AFK to announce it beforehand. There are add-ons available to use for AFK purposes.
Members should at all times adhere to the Terms of Service by Frogster.
Game Modifications (mods) may be used IF they meet the standards of the Frogster Terms of Service. It is the responsibility of each member to verify their mods comply with the Terms of Use/Terms of Service of Frogster.
Looting Policy – Need before greed. Basically if the loot is an upgrade for the character you are playing, you should select need. If you would like the item for an alt, or for any other purpose, you should greed. If you don’t need or want the item at all, pass.
We ask that you mention that you are choosing need prior to the roll. The reason for this is to allow the raid leader a chance to offer input, in the event the item might not be good for your particular class combination.
III. PVP Rules
While our server is a non-PvP server it is fine to Duel or participate in other PvP type events keeping in mind you are a New OutRider and your behavior should reflect as such.
IV. Resignation
Resignation is defined in RoM as either of the following:
Posting on the message boards that you are resigning your position with NOR and detagging your main and/or alts.
Emailing your CoC indicating that you are resigning your position with NOR.
Detagging of any guilded character with the purpose of leaving the guild.
If de-tagging for other purposes (deleting the character, re-rolling the character, making room under the alt limit policy, etc) please inform an officer of that toon's name and your reason prior to doing so. There are several ways to let them know. Verbal, In game message, NOR message boards, E-mail, etc. Under no circumstances will officer availability be an excuse for non notification. The Branch Leader/Duke/Duchess, given unforeseen extenuating circumstances, can grant exceptions to this rule.
Upon resignation, all alternate characters will be removed from the roster.
V. Recruitment
A recruit evaluation form is provided on the New OutRiders forums. Members are encouraged to use this form to submit recruit evaluations. The potential recruits name is needed, your name & email, how many times you grouped with the recruit, why you feel this person would make a good NOR member and any other comments you have about the recruit.
Recruits should not be sent to the website without grouping with them first. In addition, an officer/officers should be asked to join your group with the potential recruit in order to spend time with the recruit and answer any questions he or she may have.
An important reminder, we do not recruit members from other guilds. If someone from another guild approaches you that is fine, but we don't approach them.
VI. LOA
Leaves of Absence from the guild are granted on a case-by-case basis. An LOA should be requested when, but not limited to: Real Life situations in which you cannot be in game which could include but are not solely limited to anticipated absences of more than 3 weeks in length, illness, etc. You merely need to request an LOA. No reason is required as we consider that your personal business. If you wish to share the reason that is your decision.
When requesting an LOA please inform your Baron/Baroness. They will inform the Count/Countess, Duke/Duchess and Branch Leader via E-Mail and/or a weekly Barony Report. If your LOA is for a known amount of time, upon your return, you will be returned to the Barony you left at the Duke/Duchess' discretion. If your LOA is for an unknown length of time, upon your return, the Duke/Duchess may place you in a different Barony. You may request to return to your original Barony and all requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
VII DUNGEON MASTER GROUP (DMG)
DMG Definition & Expectations
The Runes of Magic Dungeon Master Group (DMG) will be a group of volunteer NOR members who deal with the planning and execution of raids and events for NOR members to participate in and enjoy. The goal is to offer opportunities for enjoyment of the game on a Duchy-wide scale that members would not normally have access to.
What this group can and must do is to insure that the information and skills of our raiders who are "students of the game" is readily available to those who do not have the time, or the desire to read endless forums, casting orders, gear recommendations and the like from the myriad sources available on the internet. In short, all of our raiders must become
nearly as good or as good in raids as our "best in class" raiders, and the DMG has the responsibility to provide the tools to do that in the easiest way possible.
DMG Rules - guilddocs/kb_show.php?id=15
RoM DMG APPLICATION
Any individual may apply to join the DMG by submitting a written request to:
romdmg (AT) newoutriders.com (replace the AT with the @ sign).
Please make sure to include the rank you are applying for (see below). The Dungeon Master (DM) will review the request and respond.
The DMG positions add value to our membership. Please DO NOT apply to these positions lightly. They are going to be a lot of work and they will have direct and lasting implications for our raiding success going forward.
DMG Members
==============
The rank of a DMG member should generally reflect his or her preferred role within the group. This, however, does not mean that the member is limited to those functions alone and all members are encouraged to assist one another.
None of the ranks are "officer" positions and members of the DMG have no powers in that regard.
All DMG Members will be required to demonstrate willingness to:
A. Actively perform the functions of the rank.
B. Assist other members of the DMG as need arises
C. Participate in and promote the events led by the DMG.
D. Attend regular DMG meetings (TBD)
E. Comply to the decisions of the DM.
All DMG members will have a DMG rank in addition to their Guild rank and should be added to their signature (example: *NOR/SE-RoM (TC) )
